project TIMELINE

We'll deliver two (2) formal research reports. Initial report in November 22 & June 23 final report.

The formal reports will report and synthesize the information collected to date, including relevant information collected via qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches. This will also include lists, maps, and other resources that community advisors and researchers have confirmed are ready to share officially in the formal report format. In some cases multimedia will be linked instead of embedded, depending on the format of the information and methods approved by community and COMMERCE.

BACKGROUND

The Department of Commerce, in partnership with the Office of Equity and community partners, is responsible for building a plan by July 2023 to describe how funds will be invested to address racial, economic, and social disparities in communities across the state created by the historical design and enforcement of state and federal criminal laws and penalties for drug possession. These dollars will be distributed by Commerce as $100 million in fiscal year 2024 and $100 million in fiscal year 2025.

The consultant team will produce a final report with guidance and review from the Office of Equity, identified stakeholders, and COMMERCE staff, in compliance with the legislative requirements set forth in the proviso.
